SIA Close Protection

Level 3 BTEC Certificate in Close Protection Operations

Regalis Group’s Close Protection course is designed to introduce you into the Close Protection industry with the highest level of training and relevant qualification to obtain your SIA Close Protection license.

To work within the UK Close Protection Sector everyone is required by law to have the SIA Close Protection Licence. In order to obtain an SIA licence you will need to show that you are trained to the right level. The Regalis Close Protection course has been designed and developed by our specialist instructors to offer an entry to a rewarding career in Close Protection Operations.

The course covers all aspects as stipulated by the Security Industry Authority (SIA) with enhanced elements incorporated by the training team to offer the additional benefit of their experience and “on the ground” knowledge.

To obtain one of the qualifications linked to close protection licensing you will need to attend two training modules and take and pass an exam.

Regalis Group will also provide unpaid experience if required on operations in London and retrospective to their local areas if required. Operational experience, further understanding of operations, demonstration of professionalism.

When applying for your licence you will be required to produce evidence that you have attained a recognised first aid award. You should present your valid first aid certificate to your training provider before you start your training. If you do not have a recognised first aid award you will need to get one in order to get your licence. This is in addition to the minimum 150 hours knowledge and practical skills training.

First aid awards recognised by the SIA are:

  • First Aid at Work – 4 day course (HSE approved)
  • First Person on Scene (FPOS) Intermediate Award – 30 hours (Edexcel / IHCD)

Please ensure you have the following items by the start of the course:

  • Driving License (Both Parts)
  • Original Passport
  • 4 Passport Photos
  • Pens, pencils, notebook etc
  • Any medication you may require

This unit will be assessed by means of:

  • A written test, set and marked by Edexcel
    • This unit will be assessed using a multiple-choice test set and marked by Edexcel. There are 60 items and learners must achieve a score of 42 (70%) to pass their course.
  • Practical tasks, assessed internally by Regalis Group’s Instructors.
  • Students must pass both parts of the assessment to pass the unit.

Level 3 BTEC Certificate in Close Protection Operations

SIA Door Supervision

The SIA Door Supervisor licence offers a rewarding career and will enable you to work as an SIA Door Supervisor or SIA Security Guard in the UK.

One of the requirements of the SIA licence is that you hold a recognised qualification, and the BTEC Level 2 National Certificate for SIA door supervisors from EDEXCEL meets the requirement for the SIA Licence. This will involve attending a four day course and passing three multiple choice exams.

On receipt of your exam results, you can send in your application form to the SIA (provided that you have passed the exams). We provide blank application forms on our courses and will always give help and guidance with completing them.

Results and Certificates available within 10 working days of the exam. Regalis Group is able to offer an unofficial result through EDI campus on the course day.

In order to obtain your license you must be at least 18 years of age, and you must pass an identity check, a criminal record check, and hold the appropriate SIA-approved qualification.

WARNING:

It is a legal requirement for anyone working in the United Kingdom security industry to have the necessary training and qualification, accredited by the SIA (Security Industry Authority). Therefore, working in the industry without a valid SIA Licence is a criminal offence, which means you could be fined and even put in prison.

SIA CCTV (Public Space Surveillance)

The Regalis Group CCTV Training course is fully SIA approved and accredited by EDI. SIA approved CCTV licence (Public Space Surveillance) is required when manned guarding activities are carried out through the use of closed circuit television equipment to:

  1. Monitor the activities of a member of the public in a public or private place; or
  2. Identify a particular person.

To get one of the qualifications linked to Public Space Surveillance (CCTV) licensing you will need to attend and take two training modules and take and pass two exams. The course may be delivered over three days or during weekends and/or evening sessions.

Level 3 Professional Investigators

EDI Approved Level 3 Award Professional Investigators Course

The qualification is based on the SIA specifications for core competency training for Private Investigators, which covers the necessary understanding and skills required by individuals to operate as Professional Investigators.
Aim

To provide the learner with the basic knowledge and understanding to ensure the provision of a professional level of service as a Professional Investigator; and to address the proposed licensing requirements in the SIA regulated, operational environment.
This qualification will develop understanding of:

  1. Preparing to carry out an investigation
  2. Gathering information in support of an investigation
  3. Reporting the findings of an investigation
  4. Knowing and complying with the laws, regulations and codes of practice

EDI Level 3 Award for Professional Investigators will be awarded to learners who successfully complete the following 3 mandatory units:

Unit 1 Preparing to carry out an investigation
Unit 2 Gather information in support of an investigation
Unit 3 Report the findings of an investigation

There is no pre-requisite knowledge or skills required before commencing this programme but some basic IT skills would be useful.

Learners need to be working to at least level 2 communication/literacy and numeracy skills. Some basic IT skills will also be required.

This programme is designed to meet the needs of individuals who require a qualification whch will enable them to apply for a Security Industry Authority (SIA) Licence for Private Investigators (when licensing comes into effect) thus leading directly into employment. Candidates can progress to HE BSs investigation courses

The units are assessed by an externally set and marked online test.

Unarmed Combat

Unarmed combat or hand to hand combat is the most ancient form of fighting known. A majority of cultures have their own particular histories related to close combat, and their own methods of practice.

Regalis Group prides itself in having specialist instructors in all areas including Unarmed Combat. The physical skill of personal safety and self defence has now become a essential aspect of everyday life. This course will enable and help Close Protection Operators, Law Enforcement Officers and Door Supervisors to deal with serious incidents including minor or major assault and attack with weapons. It is usually delivered over two days but we can offer longer and more advanced unarmed combat training programmes upon request.

These unarmed combat techniques are aimed at anatomical weaknesses of the muscular, nervous and circulatory systems of the potential attackers.

Personal Safety Training

The course is designed to provide broader and enhanced skills for those people in job roles where they regularly manage conflict and who require training physical intervention skills. These can involve anything from avoidance and disengagement skills through to rescue, escorting customers to exit points , holding skills and during the arrest procedure if needed.

Regalis Group provides a unique physical skills programme that is simple and effective yet lower in risk for the staff using them and the individuals to whom they are applied
